File Cannot be Deleted! What to do if a file cannot be deleted?

Sometimes when you try to delete a file a dialog box pops up, saying : “Cannot delete such and such file: It is being used by another program”

It says: "File cannot be deleted"

So what causes such an error?

This may be because the file or program that you want to delete is open and you are using it, or it may be a system file, or it may be a virus that is executing on its own without your knowledge, or simply it may be windows error(this may happen to some video/audio files).

If you want to delete such a file, please follow these steps:

If the file is open, then simply close it and then try to delete it.
If this does not work, then open notepad
Go to file menu, then choose open
Ensure that the file type is set to “All files”
Then DO NOT CHOOSE OPEN, instead RIGHT CLICK on the file
Then choose delete from the drop down menu
Go to the RECYCLE BIN and empty it.

And thats it.

This worked for me, so if it works for you also, then it is done. If this does not delete the file, then contact me!

Ever wanted to learn computer science? you are at the right place!

Well, the internet is a place full of information(they usually say everything is available in the internet -the way to find/reach may be another case) and you could use it as a tool to enhance your learning!

Recently i was googling computer science videos, and as i was expecting i got a lot of different sites as well as links to different contents of computer videos.
Without commenting much about it, the list is given below.
Note: The order i have listed the sites has got no significance.

Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary 7th edition- QuickTime error

For those of us who are non-native English speakers usually use a dictionary to know the meanings of the new words we come across, and now to make life easier, we have online dictionaries as well as CDs that come with some dictionaries that you can install your computer.

One such dictionaries is Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary 7th edition that comes with a CD.

You may sometimes find the following error while trying to access your dictionary:

1. When you click to open the dictionary, you find the following error:

“The QuickTime Plug-in requires the QuickTime System extension version 5 or later.”

If you click “Cancel” the dictionary still opens, but then when you try to listen to the pronunciation of a word, the following error pops up:

ERROR function ……..:
……………
……………

One day, my friend asked me if i could solve this problem, i googled it and to my surprise i got a peculiar posting!
I read it with a little skepticism, but finally it solved.

Here is the solution:

1. Go to the program’s folder, it should be in “C:\Program Files\Oxford\OALD7″.
2. Rename the “plugins” folder to another, for example “oaldplugins“.
3. Go to QuickTime’s folder, it should be in “C:\Program Files\QuickTime”
4. Copy the “Plugins” folder and paste it in OALD folder (the same folder as in the step 1)
5. Run the program, you will not get any error again.
